The stock exchanges throughout the world plummeted, thanks to the information from reliable sources which predict a second wave of Covid-19 in the autumn. If this were to happen, it would be fundamental to have a Plan C to put into practice to protect your company.
Almost 45 days since the end of Lockdown, many want a return to life before Covid-19. But we have to remember that our social, economic, and personal lives are now very different. Probably many will continue to work from home, and this, for example, will have a huge impact on bars and restaurants at lunch -time, especially in Milan. This loss cannot easily be made up during the day. And the early evening now brings few clients for an aperitif after the office.
This small example sums up how difficult it will be to recoup economically in the wake of this pandemic.
If the stock exchanges are worried about another outbreak, then all the more reason we should be concerned about our little companies. If this did happen, we would be back to lockdown measures that we had in place in March and April: self -isolation, social distancing, worry about health and basic needs , and the constant search for a safer model of life.
I would like to advise small local companies not to miss the chance during the summer to prepare for a strong Plan C. They should be basically keeping or updating the measures put in place during the pandemic: personalised service by appointment, home deliveries, new “protective” products, sensible safety measures.
Will we need a Plan C? I do not know, but I would like to quote Napoleon. He said that the first thing a good general has to attend to is not a plan of action, but a plan of escape.
